Who we are

Pelletgrill & Smoker (“we”, “us”) is a publishing website owned and operated by Iron Mako Media. You can reach us at contact@pelletgrillandsmoker.com.

The short version

We do not sell anything, we do not have accounts, and we do not have a mailing list. The only information you can give us directly is what you type into the contact form. Everything else is standard analytics and the affiliate tracking that funds the site.

What we collect

If you use the contact form

Your name, email address, chosen subject and message. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add you to any list. Messages are delivered to our inbox by Microsoft Graph (Microsoft’s email API) and retained there as ordinary correspondence.

The form also records when the page loaded and your IP address, briefly and in memory, purely to block automated spam submissions. Neither is stored after the request.

If you just browse

Google Analytics 4 collects standard analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, how you arrived, and interactions such as clicks on buy buttons. This is aggregated and we use it to understand which pages are useful.

We also record a affiliate_click event when you click a buy button, so we can see which pages lead to purchases. It records the merchant, the product identifier and the page you were on — not anything about you personally.

What we do not collect

• We have no user accounts and no logins.
• We have no newsletter and no mailing list.
• We do not take payments, so we never see card details.
• We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone.
• We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.

Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish repeat visits. Amazon sets its own cookies when you follow one of our links to their site, which is how they attribute a purchase to us.

We do not set cookies of our own for advertising or profiling. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works normally without them, and our analytics simply sees less.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site route through our own /go/ redirect, which adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag and sends you to Amazon. Amazon then uses its own cookies to attribute any purchase. We receive aggregate commission reports from Amazon; we do not receive your identity, your order contents or your payment details.

Third parties with access to data

• Vercel — hosts the site and processes server logs, including IP addresses, as part of serving pages.
• Google Analytics 4 — analytics, as described above.
• Microsoft (Graph API) — delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
• Amazon — affiliate tracking once you follow a product link, and the source of the product images and price data shown on our pages.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

• Analytics: block cookies in your browser, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
• Affiliate tracking: block cookies, or visit the retailer directly rather than through our links. The site works either way.
• Contact form data: email us and we will delete your message and our reply.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data, including access, correction and deletion. Email contact@pelletgrillandsmoker.com and we will deal with it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or which third parties are involved, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not quietly add a tracking network and leave this page saying otherwise.
