The short version

Pelletgrill & Smoker earns affiliate commission. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made through links on this site, and we also earn from brand partner programs we have joined through the Impact network — currently Pit Boss. Either way it is at no extra cost to you. We do not accept payment for reviews, rankings or placements, and commission rates do not enter our scoring.

Which programs we are in

Two.

The Amazon Associates program is the default. Most buy buttons, price links and product CTAs on this site go to Amazon under our own Associates tracking ID.

Pit Boss, through the Impact network, is our one brand partner, and Pit Boss pays us more than Amazon does on the same grill. That is exactly why we do not let it choose which button you see first.

For a Pit Boss grill sold on pitboss-grills.com, both links are on the card and the cheaper one leads. The comparison runs automatically against the live Amazon price every time the page is built, so it stays right as the two retailers move. When Amazon is cheaper or the price is a tie, the Amazon button comes first and the Pit Boss link sits underneath as “also direct from Pit Boss”; when Pit Boss is cheaper, that order flips. Today, for instance, Amazon leads on the 500 FB2 because it is about $43 less there, even though the Pit Boss link would pay us more.

None of this moves a grill up a ranking: the scores and the order of every guide are set by the published rubric, and a Pit Boss grill that is not the best answer to a question is not presented as one. Pit Boss grills we could not match to a live brand-site listing stay on Amazon only.

Every other brand — Traeger, Z Grills, Camp Chef, recteq, Green Mountain Grills, HALO — links to Amazon, because we have no direct program with any of them and we do not build links for programs we have not joined.

The merchants configured on this site, and whether a link to each one earns us anything:

Where we link a manufacturer’s own site — to cite a specification, for instance — we earn nothing and the link carries no tracking. Those are citations, not money links.

How our links work

Every outbound product link on this site routes through our own /go/ resolver, which adds the Associates tag server-side and redirects you to the retailer. Three consequences worth knowing:

• Links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and open in a new tab.
• The redirect is temporary (302), not permanent, so tracking fires on every click.
• The resolver is excluded from search engines and from our sitemap. It is a redirect endpoint, not a page.

What commission does NOT change

This is the part that matters, so it is specific rather than reassuring:

• Ranking order. Our scoring weights — value 35%, temperature control 20%, build 20%, capacity 15%, owner support 10% — are published on how we pick and are the entire formula. Commission rate is not an input.
• Which retailer we send you to. We route to whichever option is better for the buyer. Where a brand-direct program would pay us more but Amazon is cheaper or better stocked, we link Amazon.
• What we say about a product. Every pick on this site has a “where it falls short” section, including the ones we rank first.
• Whether we recommend buying at all. Our are pellet grills worth it page names three types of buyer who should not buy one, and our griddle combo page recommends against the product category it is named for.

Our rules on prices

Amazon’s Associates terms require displayed prices to come from their data, to be timestamped, and to be refreshed or removed. We go slightly further than that:

• Every price is read from Amazon by an automated daily check and written straight into the page. Nothing is typed by hand. The last read was November 7, 2026.
• Every price carries the date it was read.
• After 48 hours without a refresh, every price on the site disappears and the buttons fall back to “Check price at Amazon”. The failure mode is silence, never a stale number.
• We never show a “was” price we calculated ourselves. Where a discount appears, it is the percentage Amazon reports against its own list price.
• No countdown timers, no “only 2 left”, no “price rising soon”. We cannot verify any of those, so saying them would be a fabrication.

Prices change constantly. Always confirm on Amazon before you buy — the number on their page is the one that counts.

Our rules on product claims

• Every pick is researched from published specifications, recognized standards and verified owner feedback, scored on our published rubric and shown with a live price. Full method on how we pick.
• Specifications are transcribed from the manufacturer’s own listing. Where a maker does not publish something, we say so rather than estimating it.
• We do not invent ratings, review counts or testimonials. There are no reviews of this business, which is why the site has no testimonials section.
• Product images come from the retailer’s own catalog data under the Associates program, and appear only beside a link to that product on Amazon.

Where disclosure appears

On every page carrying commercial links, above the content. On every buy button, as an #ad marker with a link back here. In the footer of every page. And in this document, which is linked from all of the above.
