#ad We earn a commission on Amazon purchases made through these links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes the ranking — here is the method.
How this page works
An automated job reads the current Amazon price for every grill on this site once a day and writes it straight into the page. Nothing is typed by hand. If a discount is shown, it is the percentage Amazon itself reports against its own list price — we never calculate one from a number we remember.
The practical consequence matters more than the mechanism: when the data goes stale, the numbers disappear. After 48 hours without a successful refresh, every price on this site vanishes and the buttons fall back to “Check price at Amazon”. A wrong price is worse than no price, so the failure mode is deliberately silence rather than a confident old figure.
Why we built this instead of a deals blog
We fetched ten competing pellet-grill pages while researching this site. Not one of them showed a live price. They show a price band, or a price from whenever the article was written, or nothing at all — and the single most common search in this category is a price question.
You will not find countdown timers here, or “only 2 left”, or “price rising soon”. We have no way to verify any of those claims, so saying them would be a fabrication. What you get is the number Amazon is showing, the date we read it, and a link.
What a real pellet grill discount looks like
Pellet grill pricing has a seasonal shape worth knowing, because it tells you whether a discount is meaningful:
- Late spring (April-May) is peak demand and the worst time to buy. Prices sit at list.
- Father’s Day and July 4 bring genuine promotions, usually on the previous model year.
- Late September through November is the best window. Retailers clear outdoor inventory before winter and the discounts on last season’s models are real.
- January-February is quiet, with thin stock and modest discounts on whatever is left.
A 10% discount in May is a better deal than a 25% discount in October on a model that has been replaced. Check the table for the current number, then check whether the grill is current — our model reviews say plainly where a model has been superseded.
If you are shopping by budget, not by discount
A discount on the wrong grill is not a bargain. The price-tier pages are a better starting point than this one if your budget is fixed, because they rank what is good at your number rather than what happens to be marked down.

How it scores

What it does well
- Full-size 518 sq in chamber for close to what a portable costs
- Flame Broiler lever opens direct flame for searing up to 1,000°F — rare at this price
- Five-year warranty is unusually long for a budget grill
Where it falls short
- 5 lb hopper is the real compromise: expect to refill on any long smoke
- No connectivity at all
- Thin-gauge body loses heat in cold weather, so winter cooks run longer
#4 · Under-$500 buyers who want real capacity
Pit Boss 700 Carbon Series
Pit Boss · score 9.4/10

718 sq in for mid-$400s with no WiFi to pay for — the honest sweet spot if you cook from the patio, not the sofa.

- Temperature range
- 180-500°F
- Controller

How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.2/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.4/10.
What it does well
- 718 sq in at this price is more grate than any WiFi-equipped grill near it
- Porcelain-coated grates and a grease bucket system, not a bare tray
- Automatic start-up and cool-down cycles
- Hopper cleanout, so swapping pellet flavors is quick
Where it falls short
- No WiFi and no Bluetooth — you adjust it at the grill
- 13.5 lb hopper means a mid-cook top-up on anything past about eight hours
- One probe only
#5 · Most kit included for the money
Z Grills 7002C
Z Grills · score 9.8/10

697 sq in, a 28 lb hopper, two probes, a grease bucket and a cover — all in the box for under $500.
Published specifications
- Cooking area
- 697 sq in
- Hopper
- 28 lb, tool-free cleanout
- Temperature range
- 180-450°F
- Controller
- PID 3.0, LCD, two meat probes
- Connectivity
- None
- Warranty
- 3 years
How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.6/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.8/10.
What it does well
- 28 lb hopper is close to Pit Boss territory and nearly double Traeger's 18 lb
- Rain cover, two probes, grease bucket and gloves included
- Two locking casters plus two wheels
- Pellet viewing window
Where it falls short
- No WiFi, so the app crowd should look elsewhere
- 450°F ceiling
- Z Grills calls it an 'electric' pellet grill in the listing, which confuses buyers — it burns wood pellets and needs a wall outlet, like every pellet grill here
#6 · Most backyards — the default pick
Pit Boss 850 Navigator Series
Pit Boss · score 9.6/10

The most cooking space per dollar of any WiFi pellet grill we track, and the one we point most buyers at first.
Also direct from Pit Boss — $799.99 (list price as of 2026-11-07)
Price as of November 7, 2026. #ad how this is funded
Published specifications

- 30 lb, with a viewing window
- Temperature range
- 180-500°F in 5°F steps
- Controller
- LCD digital, two meat probes included
- Connectivity
- WiFi + Bluetooth, Pit Boss Grills app
- Warranty
- 5 years
How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.4/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.6/10.
What it does well
- 932 sq in for well under four figures — roughly 20% more grate per dollar than the closest Traeger
- 30 lb hopper is double what most sub-$500 grills carry, so overnight cooks do not need a refill
- Flame Broiler slider gives you direct-flame searing, which most pellet grills in this range cannot do
- Two probes in the box rather than one
Where it falls short
- LCD controller is a step below the touchscreen PID on the 1300/1600 and the Advantage 850SL
- Pit Boss app has a long history of connection complaints in owner threads
- Assembly is a genuine two-person, ninety-minute job
#7 · Buyers who want the app to just work
Traeger Pro 780
Traeger · score 9.2/10

The grill most people mean when they say Traeger. WiFIRE works properly; you pay roughly a third more per square inch than Pit Boss.
Price as of November 7, 2026. #ad how this is funded
Published specifications
- Cooking area
- 780 sq in (34 burgers, 6 rib racks or 6 chickens)
- Hopper
- 18 lb
- Temperature range
- Up to 500°F max
- Controller
- Digital with built-in meat probe
- Connectivity
- WiFIRE, Traeger app
- Warranty
- 3 years
How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.2/10.
What it does well
- WiFIRE is the most reliable app in pellet grilling by a clear margin
- Porcelain grates and a well-sorted grease path make cleanup quick
- This listing bundles an 18 lb bag of Signature Blend pellets
- Resale value holds better than any other brand here
Where it falls short
- 780 sq in for the price of a 1,329 sq in Pit Boss — you are paying for the software and the badge
- 18 lb hopper against Pit Boss's 30 lb
- No direct-flame searing: 500°F is the ceiling and it is indirect
#8 · Big families and anyone cooking for a crowd
Pit Boss 1300 Navigator Series
Pit Boss · score 9.7/10

1,329 sq in and a touchscreen PID board for about what a mid-size Traeger costs — the value pick for big cooks.
Also direct from Pit Boss — $999.99 (list price as of 2026-11-07)
Price as of November 7, 2026. #ad how this is funded
Published specifications
- Cooking area

- 180-500°F in 5°F steps
- Controller
- Touchscreen, two meat probes included
- Connectivity
- WiFi + Bluetooth, Pit Boss Grills app
- Warranty
- 5 years
How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.5/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.7/10.
What it does well
- 1,329 sq in holds four pork butts or eight rib racks without stacking
- Touchscreen controller rather than the LCD board on the 850
- Still cheaper than a Traeger Woodridge with 470 fewer square inches
- Folding front and side shelves plus a bottom pellet shelf
Where it falls short
- A 30 lb hopper feeding a 1,329 sq in chamber burns through pellets faster than the same hopper on the 850
- Big footprint — measure your patio before you order
- App reliability is the same known weak point across the Pit Boss range
#9 · Traeger buyers who want capacity and modern cleanup
Traeger Woodridge
Traeger · score 9.4/10

860 sq in, 500°F and the EZ-Clean ash keg. The current Traeger mid-range, and the one that replaced the old Pro 575 in most buyers' shortlists.
Price as of November 7, 2026. #ad how this is funded
Published specifications
- Cooking area
- 860 sq in (6 chickens, 8 rib racks or 6 pork butts)
- Hopper
- 18 lb
- Temperature range
- 180-500°F
- Controller
- Digital with WiFIRE app control
- Connectivity
- WiFIRE, Traeger app
- Warranty

How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.2/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.4/10.
What it does well
- EZ-Clean Grease & Ash Keg collects both in one place — the best cleanup system on any grill here
- 860 sq in with a genuine 500°F ceiling
- P.A.L. Pop-And-Lock and ModiFIRE compatibility for shelves and cooking surfaces
Where it falls short
- No Super Smoke mode or digital pellet sensor — those are Woodridge Pro features
- 18 lb hopper for 860 sq in is tight on an overnight cook
- Priced where a 1,329 sq in Pit Boss sits
#10 · Competition-volume cooks and very large yards
Pit Boss 1600 Navigator Series
Pit Boss · score 9.6/10

The largest cabinet-style Pit Boss pellet grill on Amazon, and still priced below a mid-range Traeger.
Also direct from Pit Boss — $1,199.99 (list price as of 2026-11-07)
Price as of November 7, 2026. #ad how this is funded
Published specifications
- Cooking area
- 1,593 sq in (the listing title says 1,593; one bullet says 1,539 — the maker contradicts itself)
- Hopper
- 30 lb, with a viewing window
- Temperature range
- 180-500°F in 5°F steps
- Controller
- Touchscreen, two meat probes included
- Connectivity
- WiFi + Bluetooth, Pit Boss Grills app
- Warranty
- 5 years
How it scores
Weighted rubric score: 8.4/10. Value carries the most weight on this site by design. On our published scale that is 9.6/10.
What it does well
- More grate area than anything else at this price, by a wide margin
- Touchscreen PID-style board and dual probes as standard
- Flame Broiler searing carried over from the smaller models
Where it falls short
- Pit Boss's own listing gives two different cooking areas — treat the figure as approximate until they fix it
- 30 lb hopper is undersized for a chamber this big on a long cook
- Heats slowly from cold compared with the 850

Questions people actually ask
How often do these prices update?
Once a day. Every price carries the date it was read, and if the refresh fails for 48 hours the numbers are removed from the page rather than left to go stale.
When is the best time to buy a pellet grill?
Late September to November, when retailers clear outdoor inventory before winter. Late spring is the worst — peak demand, prices at list.
Do you get paid for the deals you list?
We earn an Amazon commission if you buy through our links, and that is disclosed on every page. It does not affect which grills appear or how they are ranked — this page lists every grill we cover, in price order, whether it is discounted or not. Full disclosure.
Why is a price missing for one of the grills?
Because Amazon was not showing a buyable offer when we last checked, which usually means the model is temporarily out of stock. The button falls back to a price check rather than displaying the last number we saw.
